Ulu Tuas
I have been assigned to work at Tuas recently. Sorry, not just Tuas. In fact, it is Tuas SOUTH. KNN, Tuas South is one fucking ulu place. I have to drive thru six expressways (TPE, SLE, BKE, KJE, PIE, AYE) to get there, and it is taking me one fucking hour to reach my work place. And I have to do this for 2 man-months, which is 40 working days! Pui!
Fucking Tuas has no Singaporepools outlet, internet connection is restricted (no sports sites, no entertainment sites, no blog sites but luckily still can read about
Lim Buey Tor), no where to buy Newpaper.... sigh...
I think now I regret leaving my previous customer's site, though they have some
fucking assholes there. Previously, I start work at around 9am, smoke break at 10am, lunch from 12pm to 1:30pm, smoke break again at 3pm, switch off at around 5pm and go back at 6pm. Now I have to reach site at 8:30am sharp, no one to smoke with me (I am the only one from our company attached to Tuas), lunch from 12:30pm to 1:15pm (45 mins!!??) and leave at 5:45pm. And the thing about lunch is, there is only one stall in the canteen, and the next nearest coffee shop is about 10min drive away. I am too lazy to drive out for 10min, rush my lunch in 25mins time (including finding carpark lot, finding table, queueing for food and drinks, and eat) and rush back within 10min. Na Bei, si bei sian there.
I am counting down. Minus away my leaves taken, a Good Friday holiday, plus provided I am not taking any more leaves or MC, I will complete my task there on 10.05.2005.... Sounds like still a long way to go....
Talking about driving to Tuas, while I was driving to work on Monday morning, some fuckers high-beamed me from behind. I was travelling on the right lane at 100km/h. Speed limit on the highway was 90km/h. That fucker from behind still high-beamed me. Then he cut to my left, overtook me, stared at me, and tried to speed off. Fucker driving a black Honda VTI Civic, think he can drive very fast. KNNBCCB, my car is also a VTI Civic ok. So I stepped on my accelerator and caught up with him, and high-beamed him back. And guess what he did? That CCB stepped on his brakes. Luckily, I was fast enough to re-act. I still remember his plate number. SFF 1082. CCB, don't let me see you again.
And by the way, have you guys heard the latest commercial on radio about Wheels magazine (I think it is Wheels)? Something about 2 guys who are left with $2 and dunno what to do with it. One mentioned about getting a wanton mee when the other guy said he would get the magazine so that he can get the latest news on cars, accessories, and other electronic gadgets. KNN, if I am left with $2, why do I bother to get the magazine knowing that I would have no money to buy a car or gadget???
Alpha IV
Eric finally returned my call. He had left his handphone at his workplace and only saw my missed calls (6 or 7 of them) when he went back to retrieved his hp at around 1am. Luckily I was still awake watching the boring match between Palace and Man Utd which ended 0-0.
He came over to my place and picked me up to go for a cup of kopi and some catching up at the prata shop. It's been 2 years since we met up. Called Dominic but he was outside elsewhere.
We talked about our work, out lives and the good old days at OCS. Anyone from Alpha 29/97 out there reading? Talked about Diva's case, about our APC Chee Bye Ho and his gay partner Chee Bye Liang, about our platoon mates like Poppye, Vege Pang, Ranger Lam, and the rest of the gang. Talked about the time when we were assigned as "enemies" and how we siam a siong exercise. Talked about memoriable ROC missions.
And being a small world in which we lived in, we happened to see Danny walking in to buy prata. Really a small world indeed. We called him, and he was just as surprised to see us as we see him. He came over and we spent the night talking about our past. Man, it has been 7 years since we last seen each other after our postings from OCS. It's "Capitan" Danny now, father of 2. And I also found out he just live 3 blocks away from me. Really small world.
So many memories of our NSF days came back. About our bets on the 98 World Cup while training in ROC, about our tekan sessions in Alpha, about those stupid area cleanings, turn-outs... And how much we ALL despise that stupid commander Chee Bye Ho. Knn, Chee Bye Ho C.C., if you happen to read this, please do realise what a fucked up PC you had been.
Before we know it, and after 2 cups of tea, it's 4am. Danny got to go home to his wife, Eric got to go all the way back to jurong and we decided to call it a day. As we left, we agreed that it would not be another 6-7 years before we meet up again. Confirm
