Cabbage

I had lunch with my colleagues from another project site nearby today. I told my users that I won't be joining them for lunch becoz my colleagues had already asked me. When I met up with my colleagues at Long John Silver at Plaza Singapura, I realized the manager was there as well. Damn, if I had known earlier that he would be there, I would have joined my users.

The manager, let's call him Cabbage, is not very popular among us. I am calling him Cabbage now becoz his name is cabbage literally. He is not popular among us becoz we think he knows no-shit, talks a lot of shit during meetings, and I think he looks like shit. He is actually not my manager, but becoz he is the accounts manager for the project I am assigned to now, I am sort of reporting to him.

So during lunch, he asked me how I am doing and howz the progress. I replied mostly with "Yes", "No", "Ok lar", and "So-so". Not really interested to talk to him. However, I did the stupidest thing by asking him what will I be doing after this project ends in a month's time. Then he told me that there is another upgrade project at another site which he may need me to do.

Damn! Shouldn't have asked. So I told him actually I am going for ICT 1 week after the current project ends. It's true anyway. I told him my ICT is 3 weeks long and probably I can't make it for the project. Then he thought aboout it and said end August is still fine. I told him I will only finish my ICT by beginning Sept. He paused, then said still ok. Shit. I told him I hope I don't get to do the project becoz it would mean I have to take train to work again. (The new project site is in town) He said that is not an issue. Then I said we have colleague A, B, or C who are also available back in HQ whom he may utilised too. He paused again. But before he could say anything, I told him "Maybe when I get back to HQ, then I check with XXX and see what she has for me. (XXX is my actual manager, and I would rather report to her than Cabbage) I am not sure if Cabbage realize this, but the fact that I gave so many excuses is becoz I do not want to report to him. I don't like to report to people who knows no-shit.
